At our honey bee farm, we have been breeding bee families using different beehive systems. As already mentioned, we sell families with three frames with a brood, one frame with food, and one frame with a honeycomb base. When packing families, care is taken to choose frames with covered brood. This prevents the brood from being exposed to cold during transport and ensures that bees hatch quickly and developed into full and strong colonies. In this way, we do not interrupt the developmental cycle of the bee family.

Dadant Blatt s characterised by large frames, and thus has a larger area for the brood, greater volume of the brooding box and reduced swarming chance. Because of Dadant Blatt’s larger frames, one brood box stack with ten frames is sufficient, which means that we use less frames and can easily and quickly check the bee family.

Zander frames are slightly smaller and lighter, making them more convenient and manageable. Most beekeepers use two brood box stack, which means that the number of frames in this case allows more precise work and easier distribution of frames in the brood box. One advantage of Zander hives is that the frames in the brood box are the same size as the frames in the honey box, which allows us to move the frames between the brood box and the honey box, and to manage frames more rationally.
